Simon grew up playing club soccer in Dallas, he played for Irving MacArthur High School. Simon earned a soccer scholarship to Hardin-Simmons University in 1982 which at the time was a Division 1 school. After completing my eligibility at HSU Steve finished his Bachelors of Business administration at the University of North Texas. After working in the business world for eight years he decided to go into education and teach and coach at the High School level

Simon is a teacher at Georgetown High School and East View High School. Simon has coached club soccer for 32 years and has won four State Cup titles, one Regional Championship, and one National Finalist Tournament.
At home, Simon is married to his wife Deb and has three children along with fury pals Lucy the dog and Gigi the cat.
