Bio

Bryant J. Velázquez Toro was born on January 17, 1997, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and grew up in the small coastal community of Ensenada in Guánica. His passion for soccer began at the age of 11 when he joined his first local team, Costaneros de Guánica. From there, he continued his development with San Germán before moving into the youth club system with Caribe Soccer, based in the southern region of the island.

At just 15 years old, Bryant joined a Spanish academy in Puerto Rico, where he received his first invitation to a National Team identification camp. His youth career allowed him to compete both nationally and internationally, gaining valuable experience that shaped his path forward.

Bryant advanced to the collegiate level, playing NJCAA Division I soccer with Western Nebraska Community College. During his first year, he earned his first call-ups to both the Puerto Rico Youth National Team and the Puerto Rico Senior National Team as a goalkeeper. At 17, he made history by becoming the youngest goalkeeper to be called up to the Puerto Rico Senior National Team as the third-choice goalkeeper for an international match against the United States, a World Cup squad.

His professional playing career in Puerto Rico included stints in the first division with Criollos de Caguas, Caguas Sporting, and Mirabelli SA. He later continued his career in the United States with MLS Reserve Sub-23, where he earned the opportunity to start in a preseason match against Atlanta United’s first team.

Alongside his playing career, Bryant began coaching at the age of 18, specializing in goalkeeper development. Over the years, he has trained and developed goalkeepers who have reached National Team standards in Puerto Rico.

In the summer of 2025, Bryant completed his first season as the Goalkeeper Coach for a women’s semi-professional team in the WPSL. Under his guidance, the goalkeeper group contributed to the team’s run to the conference championship. His work also helped the team’s starting goalkeeper earn multiple honors, including placement on the Conference First XI and recognition as Goalkeeper of the Year.

In addition, Bryant is part of the goalkeeper coaching staff at RTG Academy, where he continues to share his experience and knowledge to develop the next generation of goalkeepers.

Through both his playing and coaching careers, Bryant has built a reputation as a dedicated leader, passionate mentor, and a professional committed to the growth of goalkeepers at every level of the game.
