REFEREE CLINICS
Interested in Becoming a Soccer Referee?
If you're 13 years or older and would like to become a soccer referee, you're in luck! Westlake is hosting two in-person First-Time Referee Clinics in preparation for the Fall season.
First-Time Referee Clinic – Age 13+ (two options)
CLINIC 1
- Date: Saturday, August 15
- Time: 8:30–10:30 AM
- Location: Westlake High School Field #3

CLINIC 2
- Date: Sunday August 30
- Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
- Location: Hill Country Middle School

Please note:
- Pre-registration is required. Registration closes 72 hours before the in-person session.
- Once registered, you will need to complete the online portion of the course in the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. This is preferably done before attending the field session, but can be completed after the in-person session..
- The online coursework includes rules videos, safety training (including concussion management), and quizzes.
- After completing both the online and in-person sessions, you’ll receive your referee badge and be eligible to officiate recreational, academy, and select games.
Referee Pay Rate: $35 to $100 per game, depending on age group, game level, and duration.
Scheduling is flexible—you work when you're available, stay active, and make money while watching soccer!
To begin:
- Go to www.stxref.org and click "New Refs".
- Create a U.S. Soccer Learning Center account.
- If you're 18 or older, a background check is required (this takes a few days, so plan ahead).
- Once logged in, go to the Courses tab, select Available Courses, and find the Austin - Westlake High School course on 8/15 or the Austin – Hill Country clinic on August 30.

become a youth soccer coach
FC Westlake is always looking to improve our depth of coaches. We seek passionate individuals who can add to our existing talented coaching pool. All candidates should have the same passion and love for the sport as we do, and all candidates should be as excited about working with children as we are.
Our role in the Austin youth soccer community and beyond is to shape young players' lives for the future, whether that future is in soccer or not.

become a referee
At FC Westlake we strive to provide education, support, and resources to anyone interested in becoming a youth soccer referee.
Along with individuals who love the sport and want to stay involved on a part-time basis, we also provide support to any FC Westlake players who wish to start refereeing in their spare time. We provide referee clinics and mentorship via our Referee assignor throughout the process.
